The person or I should say the artist I chose to interview was Micol Hebron who is a Feminist, a leader in a movement, and an artist who is fighting to seek equality for women in all different aspects in life especially in the social media aspect of things. She is an Associate Professor of Art at Chapman University where she is also the founder/director of The Situation Room resource space for the creative community. Hebron has also served on advisory boards at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Birch Creek Ranch Residency (Utah), Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and UCLA. Herbon is also a Feminist who has demonstrated strategies of consciousness-raising, collaboration, generosity, play, and participation to support and further feminist dialogues in art and as well as life. Hebron’s main goal as of right now is fighting for equality for women through social media because they can not post a nude picture of their boobs(nipples) without being censored, compared to a male who can have his shirt off and can show off his nipples.
The picture that I chose to look at from her gallery on Instagram was this picture of her that had some weird colors to it, weird illusions, and herself being naked with black stars being placed on her breast to not get the picture taken down. The picture when you first look at it is her standing up with her arms out while she stares down at her body or at the ground no once you see the first image of her you start to see more of her. The picture has this illusion of the same picture of her getting bigger and bigger until her photo can not fit the screen as I believe this is her way of saying that women are powerful and can be an illusion. The other illusion to this photo is behind the pictures of her as there is a checker color scheme in the background of the picture which makes the picture look like it has a wave going through it. I also want to mention is that she is holding nipples as it looks like she has pulled them off from her breast and is holding them to the viewer to see them.
What the picture is trying to say is unclear for me but from what I can put together is that even though social media is censoring her because she can not show her nipples she is going to find other ways to show them to the viewer. The only reason why I think this is because she is holding her nipples in her hand so it is kind of like a jab at social media saying that I still showed my nipples but not in the way that you can censor out. Since this picture is about showing her nipples even though you can not show them it goes with her theme that women are being held back and being body shamed for what they have. The other meaning I got from this picture is the fact that women are powerful since it shows herself getting bigger and bigger which shows me and the viewer that women are more powerful than men think or what the world thinks. Overall this picture to me is about saying that she was able to post her nipples on social media but by doing it in a new creative way than just posting them online and getting it censored.
In my opinion, I liked her idea, and I liked all her pictures about it as she is finding creative ways to post her body on social media without being censored nor taken down which is a big success story if you are able to do it. The picture itself is pretty cool and unique as you really do not see pictures like that as often plus the way she made it look made it seem like it was an illusion that was playing with your eyes. The illusion itself in this picture is cool and I think that is why I choose it as it made the picture look interesting and eye-grabbing to me at least plus the fact that she kind of said “F U” to social media was funny. The message, in the end, is that women should not be blocked nor censored on social media because of their body or their nipples. Overall this picture and her idea is something I liked to learn about especially when she was talking about her ideas over our zoom lecture which was pretty interesting, very informative, and very educational on what it means to stand up and fight for what you want.

Let’s start off by saying this all I had in my house that I could find was some old crayons from high school that looked older and some nice clean printing paper that I had laying in the corner of my room ready to be drawn on. I started off by laying out my name in some type of bubble that I did not like but I kept doing it until I realized I wanted it to have more bubble in the letters so I drew another layout around. Since our professor said it’s okay to make mistakes in our drawing and that we should continue in with the mistake we did that is what I did I went along with the mistake I made but I do not know if it made it better or worse. Either way, I continued to draw my letters until it was time to color my letters which is the fun part in my opinion so I wanted to color my name with style and not be another basic person. So I got different colors that I had and colored each letter different than the rest once I did that I colored the background of the layout two different colors which in my opinion made it pop out. Overall this helped me in a time of bored where I felt there was nothing to do this helped it got me to do something and it got me to relax in a time where everyone is stressed, so in the end, I had a pretty good time.

-The idea for my art project was to make a mountain that represented dreams or hopes that one person or all of us have with that I put some people climbing up the mountain, I put very little people hitting the top and walking down, I put many people at the base wanting to climb up, and I put a lot of people just starring at the top. The weird balls are people that either take the chance to climb the mountain, those who want to climb it but are scared, those who are climbing already, those who just stare at the mountain hoping one day they will go, and those who have hit the top of the mountain and are now climbing down.
-The materials that I used were some old palm tree leaves that had been dried up and I used these weird-looking balls that my pal tree drops every single day which we also dried up and very old as well.
-My piece was able to express my idea because it shows how many people want to achieve their goals in life but are too scared to do it, it expresses how many people are actually climbing to reach their goals, it expresses how few people reach their goals in life, and it expresses all the people who dream of doing their goal but never do anything about it.
-The choice of my materials made a good experience for my artwork as it was easy to use, easy to put into place, and it was easy to demonstrate my idea of what I was trying to say with my head without actually saying a thing.
-A kiss should last for however long the two partners want it too last there really is not a time limit on how long a kiss should last it also depends on how you are feeling when you give that kiss to that one special person as well so in conclusion it is all up to you.
-A great meal should last you until you get full if you feel some emptiness in your stomach you should eat more and if you are full already you should not eat anymore because you will throw up overall having a great meal should last you until you are full.
-A great work of art should last forever so every single person on this earth can see it, feel it, and describe it should last for generation after generation until this earth is no more until we are all gone and even that it should still last for someone or something to see.
-Marriage should last until a person in the relationship does not have feeling s of love toward their partner once they feel that they should call it a quite but other than that marriage does not have a timeline other than a person giving up on it.
– Human life should last about a hundred years I feel like that is good enough to see what the world has to offer plus I believe people would not experience life if they were to live forever since they will never have the urgency to do the things they want because they have no death date.
-Yes, it does make a difference when you have a finite timeline since you are most likely to view more things or do more things since you do not have time to waste plus the sooner you see it the more appreciation you will have later on in your life because you know you did that.
– Everything essential to living on this earth should be here forever even after the human race is gone it should still stay here so the next living thing can grow and give life to earth once again since I feel we humans will destroy it but something will bring it if the essential things are here.
-Yes I believe that one person like me can make a big difference in global climate change since all it takes is for one person to do something right to help the earth and then after that everyone will follow plus they will contribute to saving this great world.
The theme of my Art gallery is digital animals. Why animals? Well why not. Animals are a big thing to us whenever we see them in the zoo, our national parks, or our streets we tend to get excited we also get a little astonish at whatever the animals does. With digital animals they take all the excitement of the animal but they add a twist to it making regular animals look even better while doing some weird and amazing actions. On the other hand digital artist tend to make new animals that they have made up in their imagination which is cool as we tend to see the animal which gets a little boring but when someone creates a weird scientific looking animal it tends to grab our attention.
Kaya Oldaker is an internet artist who’s art consist of digital animals. But the theme of the animals she create usually revolve around scientific and fantasy animals. Scientific and fantasy animals have a big of late for digital as many more games have been installing these type of animals into games. The reason as to why this subject is trending is because many people have never seen these types of animals as they do not exist in our world which leads people to stare in “aw” at a beautiful or horrifying creature. Oldaker is also working on a game by the name of “Light up the world” for the Paralympic games.

Simon Cowell is an internet artist who’s art in my opinion has the most amazing digital animal art out there. When I went to his website he had a bunch of art pieces of different animals I have never seen before there were some that could be from today’s world, the stone ages, and even futurist animals that look like they can live in space. Cowell work is very different from oldaker work as she tends to focus on making animals that could be from the past like the Hobbit types of animals, while Cowell tends to focus on futurist or space animals. Cowell as well has worked on a bunch of projects but the main one that he gets most praised for was his work for the “Guardians of Galaxy Vol 2”. Cowell also won an award called “A.M.E. Bale Travelling Scholarship”.

Ricardo Ow is an internet artist but he tends to focus on the the mythical creatures with a little twist to it. In most of his art work he tends to focus on a time period such as the stone ages, but he tends to always add his iconic dragon and dog to it as the dog and dragon are friends. He puts the dog and the dragon in different scenarios such as sleeping together, fighting a monster of some kind, or fleeing from a monster that is hard for them to fight. Ow also has worked on AAA video games and mobile games and he tends to focus on Sci-Fi/ Fantasy illustrations.

Artist: Mahsa Soroudi
Exhibition: Iranian Women Art
Media: Visual Communication
Gallery: 7,500 Miles
Website: mahsasoroudi.com
Instagram: N/A
The person or I should say Artist that I interviewed for this essay was Mahsa Soroudi who was just one of the artists who contributed to the 7500-miles gallery as the gallery was a group exhibition with other artists from her culture who did not want to present politics, but rather the history of the woman from where they are from. Mahsa Soroudi is from Tehran and earned her degree from the University of Azad Art and Architecture as well while she was living there until she moved to Malaysia. Soroudi graduate with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Visual Communication in 2006 who was focusing on interdisciplinary topics that can evolve into thought-provoking and meaningful exhibitions. She is also passionate about taking steps towards familiarizing the community with contemporary artists who have gone disregarded or unseen due to the unfair exposures about their communities. She also says that she has moved to different parts of the world to experience all their art and their culture that they have to offer plus she moves to other countries to influence her own culture to different types of people.
The piece of art that is shown in the 75,000-Miles art gallery by Mahsa is a woman who is colored in pink with different colors surrounding the lady as it might be displaying a woman who is out of place due to the environment she is living in. First, let’s start off with the girl or woman that is being displayed for us she is colored all in pink and she seems to be wearing a dress with a shirt slash sweater on she is also bear foot, but what really comes out is how curious or scared she looks she sees something that makes her feel and act in a scared or curious way. The second colors that are around her are green and white these colors are scatted around her but the white color seems to be around her more while the green color seems to be around the white color but it is not displayed as much as the white color. Even though they are all around the girl or woman they do not show a clear picture of anything you can not pick out anything to make something out of it as it is unclear of what it is trying to display. After the two colors, the background of the art is full of different colors which are purple, green, and white these colors are shown with different lines and shapes throughout the entire art piece.
Soroudi exhibition is about the history of woman from where she is from and other women have placed their art in this exhibition to show what women went through and what they had to deal with living in the city of Tehran. She also did not want her exhibition to be about politicians or politics she strictly said it in her interview she just wanted this exhibition to be about her people and especially the woman. With that in mind she strictly just wanted women depicting what an average girl slash woman would go through in Tehran especially different parts of the city since it is different everywhere you go. She explains how living in different parts of the region will give you a different experience of the culture as her’s was very different since she lived in the south than another girl who lived in the north. She also states that the religious revolution took a big role in most of these girls’ lives which influenced them on how they thought about the city and where they lived.
What this piece of art means to me is a sign that a woman always needs to be on the lookout they can not be comfortable in their own home that is why the girl in the picture seemed so scared and curious. The other aspect that drives me toward this road is the background of the painting as it is a bunch of scattered lines and colors which might resemble the people judging or making the woman scared leading to once again being scared. That is what I truly think it represents as she describes that a lot of people do not know the history of a woman nor know the feelings of a woman who is living in Tehran especially during the revolutions. I can kind of relate to what she is saying since I am a colored person who lives in the U.S but it is not the same as I live in southern California where it is really diverse. If I was to go to other parts of the country then yea I would feel the same way about how people are viewing me and how how they are judging me as well.
